THE SOL STORY
We've always been proud of our heritage. From our humble beginnings in sunny Mexico, we've been radiating positivity and bringing the good times for over 120 years.
Take a look at our story so far.

SUNNY BEGINNINGS
SOL was born in 1899 to a newly independent Mexico. Legend has it that as our master brewer bottled the first batch of an experimental new recipe, it was illuminated by a ray of sunlight - leading to the name "EI SOL".
In early 1900, the brand became the now iconic "SOL" In fact, two gold medals from SOL's appearance at the 1900 Paris Expo can still be seen on our labels today.

RAISED IN ORIZABA
After the acquisition of the brewery "El Salto del Agua", SOL moved to Orizaba in early 1900. As the city closest to the highest point in Mexico, this is said to be the city that's nearest the sun.
It was here that the beer became a Mexican icon, particularly popular among working class people at the time who enjoyed a cold beer after a hard day's work.

POWERED BY THE SUN
While we're brewed in many countries all over the world, since 2020 some of our breweries are making it their mission to be literally powered by sunshine.
Take our Zoeterwoude Brewery in the Netherlands for example, here our beer is proudly made using 100% solar energy - 60% for brewing and 40% for packaging.

Shinning Bright Beyond Borders
Sol's positive energy of the sun can now be felt world-over, with a refreshing SOL beer available in over 80 countries around the globe.
